After your arrival in Shetland, whether by air or by sea, you’ll be able to finalise your passage plans and set out on your own unique adventure. We’ve set out three itineraries to give you a flavour of what you can do. There are plenty of other beautiful places to stop along so feel free to make up your own route and explore Shetland at your own pace. The Lerwick Port Authority, Shetland Marinas and Shetland Islands Council websites provide much useful information about marinas and ports in Shetland and the Visit Shetland website tells you what’s on and where. If you’d like to know more about places to visit in Shetland, please contact us.
Please bear in mind that your route must be planned so as to take account of weather and tide. The sailing distances, times, and maps in these itineraries are approximate and should not be used as navigational aids. Always plan your passage carefully.
If you want to enjoy a full on sailing experience you’ll want to get round as much of Shetland as you can. This itinerary gives you some full days of sailing as well as some shorter hops.
Unlike the circumnavigation, this itinerary has a more leisurely pace which will appeal more to those who prefer short hops and spending more time ashore.
A weekend trip to the beautiful Fair Isle. Home of the world famous bird observatory. This trip gives you plenty of time to explore Fair Isle.
